If you are a connosieur of fine Lycra and a lover of freedom then you must try these. I've tried a lot of Bibshorts in my time with all of them proclaiming various features, but to look at the construction of them they all looked similar to each other.
This was the first thing that struck me with the Cronos, it is like none before it. The first thing that is obvious is the removal of the traditional sewen in leg gripper, Castelli claimed it restricted freedom of muscle movement whilst their new "Injection molded silicone gripper" held the bib leg in place without any restriction. Their claim held to be true, initially it was a bizzare feeling, almost a feeling you were not wearing pants at all as you could not feel them on your leg! After 5km I was sold on the comfort and with every passing kilometer I resented the old gripper more and more.
Secondly the complete redesigning of the stirrup attachment points, on other bibs these pull up from the front an sides, whilst doing ther job of holding the short up they do inadvertantly render the wearer a wedgie. Castelli has relocated the stirrups to the side only completely removing this often annoying feature of the bib. Another feature to the stirrup design over the top of the shoulder is the removal of most of the fabric, this eliminates all of the bunching that always occurs in this area.
Thirdly is the pad, some may say the heart of the pant! This baby is deserved of the top drawer, not only is it completely anti-bacterial, moisture wicking but its also tempreature controlled, never exceeding 32 degrees! The fabric too is treated with a new "Prosecco" process which in simple terms means moisture managed.
I never thought there could be some much in a bib but Im in love with these beauties, when they are not ready for the mornings ride there is always a feeling of disapointment, better get that back up pair.
