Wunder BAR! The all new King Cobra bar and integrated stem combo has been on trial now by the staff at cyclingnz.com since Santa Claus left one in yours truleys sack.
This was a much awaited upgrade to the pony as I wanted to see what Track star Richard Bowker had been raving about.
The King Cobra was an easy fit once the length / width calculation had been made, (they are available in lengths from 90mm-130 and widths 42-46cm O-O). I found the angle back of the drop to be spot on as I had been riding and with the contoured cable grooves on the underside the finish was very tidy. The cables are held in place by the ways of 2 clips which eliminate the need for old school insulation tape, or of you are fitting the carbon computer mount then these have a second function and also hold the cables in place.
The first thing I noticed when sprinting out of the carpark was the rigidity, the oversize shaped tops were really working against all of the forces I was exerting on the bars and the improvement in accelleration was noticable.
Secondly the shear beauty of looking down on something so well crafted would almost be worth the upgrade itself!
Touting the claim of the "worlds lightest one piece system" and with weight being a factor these days, we did our research on the Grammo flagship and found the King Cobra really does come in several grams under its peers Cinelli, FSA, Deda etc and is the only brand to weigh its claimed weight!
Made from High Modulus C7 Carbon fibre in the 3k weave the King Cobra has the pedigree to improve the handling and performance of any Highend racer.
