We received our Hurricane test set some weeks ago for our review to conincide with their NZ arrival.  This is the 3rd model of wheelset we have received from the lightweight specialists American Classic. 

This particular model is built for the "heavier" rider or "destroyer" of gear but come in at a weight of 1545g for the pair which other manufacturers find hard to reach for their lightweigt models!

Immediately upon pulling them out of the box these felt like they would lighten up the bike but they had a distinctly retro - bullet proof look about them, large flange hubs both front and rear and a butty 3 x spoking pattern.

Accelleration was fantastic due to the reduced weight and lateral stiffness when cornering was noticable.

Braking was as would be expected with any quality wheelset these days.

One thing that really sood out was the ride comfort factor which could have been due to the increased rim width to 23mm, this made the tyres sit well on the rims without any narrowing as they hooked on.

I give these hoops the big thumbs up and for any of you 100kg + powerhouses or high users out there get into an American Classic stockist and test ride a set.
