Shimano's latest top of the line road shoe, the SH-R214 continues the great tradition of stunning shoes from the company. My last pair of Shimano shoes served me well for 9 years and the carbon sole is still stronger than a bullet proof vest.
The latest offering features a new click-lock tensioning system with two velcor straps. The carbon sole, as you would expect is ultra stiff, meaning that more power is going from your legs into the pedals. I swapped over from another pair of shoes I'd ridden for a couple of years that don't have the carbon sole and the difference is extremely noticeable.
The thing I like most about the shoes though is the comfort and fit. They feel like a lazy boy for your feet and they are a nice wide shoe with a good shaped sole, so your feet don't get all squashed and sore on long rides.
As you'd expect with anything top of the line they're not the cheapest shoe on the market but they'll last you a lifetime and for out and out perfromance will be hard to beat.
