Sunday March 6 2005
Get your family, workmates and friends together and join in the spectacle that is Auckland's largest family fun bike ride - the 16th annual Bike the Bays. This massive event takes place on Sunday March 6 along the stunning Tamaki Drive and is fast becoming a must for those cyclists and want to be cyclists wanting a great day out. Bike the Bays is a non competitive bike ride.
With loads of prizes including bikes, movie tickets and Kelly Tarlton's passes, free giveaways, great entertainment, including MC Frankie Stevens (who may even sing a few songs!) the Scottwood Trust Bike the Bays is a tremendous way of doing some exercise, bonding with family and friends and having a fun day out. With Tamaki Drive closed to general traffic it is also a great opportunity to ride down one of New Zealand's most famous streets without the normal everyday motor vehicle traffic to worry about.
Entrants can choose to ride the 20km 'Scenic Ride' or the 40km 'Challenger Ride', which is two laps of the scenic ride. Children can also choose to participate in the 5km 'Junior Domain Ride' (along an improved route from last year).
