Another LOOK and this time the flagship 595 as powered by Thor the god of thunder Hushovd over the past two seasons. This work of aftermarket wonder belongs to Auckland cyclist Darryl Brigham, Ive seen him at work and he beams perfection. The final strokes on this French made masterpiece are of the same standard.
Starting at the heart of the bike is the 595 Frame with the monobloc HSC5 Fork with 1 1/4 lower integrated race and 1 1/8 upper. The tip to toe single construction gives you a feeling of absolute control that cannot be found elsewhere. So precise is the action that you quickly become one with the handling.
The Lug to lug construction of the frameset allows LOOK to tune the ride of each frameset so that each size of frame exacts to LOOK's standards of rigidity and comfort, something that can be lost as frames get larger in size. The powerpoint of the frame is the Forged carbon BB shell that is so dense, the forces it can resist are simply astounding.
The E post as used on the 586 also adds to the strong bond from post to frame eliminating all the ususal lost energy in standard seatpost connections. The potential to custom dial in the elastomer spaces to add further comfort is a nice feature.
Campagnolo's Record gruppo adorns the frame but with a couple of notable deviations. The crankset is a THM Clavicula one piece carbon set up - installed to cut further weight and add the the rigity of the crank by further integrating components.
The brake calipers are from Zero Gravity offering much lower weight and different modulation to the standard options.
Note the aftermarket 3k carbon fibre rear derailleur cage and aftermarket ceramic pulley wheels further reducing weight and add to the all carbon theme.
Extralite skewers are fitted to the Hyperon wheelset for the final touch and to match the stem well.
