AUT University is looking to recruit 12 competitive track or road cyclists for a 4-week training study. We were wondering if you might be able to offer us some assistance by either emailing the details in the attached file to club members or posting it on a website viewed by competitive cyclists in the Auckland region.
This is a great opportunity for competitive cyclists to get the full laboratory VO2 max/lactate threshold/cycling economy and time trial performance measured. Participants perform two, 1-hour high intensity interval training sessions per week for 4-weeks breathing either hypoxic (extra oxygen) air or placebo (normal air). A number of international researchers have demonstrated significant performance gains by using extra oxygen during high intensity training, so SPARC has contracted AUT to see if it's worthwhile for elite NZ athletes. Participants can continue with training outside of these sessions which are monitored with HR monitors and training diaries. Each participant receives $200 petrol vouchers upon completion. Please see attached file for eligibility criteria. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
