A few weeks ago, I met a truly inspiring athlete. His name is Rob Mathews – MBE.
Rob has been at the forefront of elite Paralympic sport for over 20 years. During his amazing career he has won an astonishing 8 Paralympic GOLD medals and set 22 World Records for running!
For years now, Rob has had a passion for riding and now has his sights set on winning a world cycling championship to add to his multiple world running championships!
Rob is after a team of riders to assist him as pilots for his tandem, as he trains towards this new challenge.
If you and your friends are interested in getting out piloting a tandem around Auckland, on rides that could vary from a Waterfront Time Trial to getting in some miles on rides up to 100km, let us know.
Rob will need a team of pilots so that he can get some consistent training every week. One of you may be his 'chosen one' to race at the World Championships in Colombia next year, and even on to the Paralympic Games in London!
Lets help Rob put another notch in his belt and put some more World Championships on the board for New Zealand!

So come on New Zealand, let's get behind Rob and see if we can help him to his SEVENTH Paralympic Games!
