Form gained from riding the Tour Down Under and the Tour of Wellington meant Logan Hutchings had too much strength for his rivals in Sunday's criterium. On what must be one of the best crit courses in NZ with a fast downhill corner, a stiff little climb and even cobbles, Hutchings gapped his rivals with a quarter of the 40min race left to go.

In a sprint finish Alexandra's James Williamson, who is a National Mountainbike Champion, got the better of Glen Thompson to take second place.

Katri Laike used her track power to win the women's race with a break on the last climb 400m from home.
