Sea Otter- Daniel Carruthers
Circuit race at Sea Otter The final race of the Sea Otter PRO road races was brutal with the steep hill to get over on each lap of the 2.2 mile circuit. Early on, a group of six riders broke away and maintained a 1-2 minute lead before the catch was made after 18 laps or so of racing. My strategy of positioning myself near the front of the bunch before the steep climb of each climb was paying >>

Austin Dirt Derby
A couple of weeks ago on Halloween night, featured some interesting racing at the Dirt Derby scene in Austin. A number of racers turned out with Halloween costumes to provide entertainment. I dressed up as Count Dracula on wheels with cape and fangs. This was how I raced for 30 minutes under the spot-lights raging and snarling at on-lookers and fellow racers. Another racer who dressed as a big >>

Carruthers Up-date
I am now back in Austin, TX and have been off the bike since the Vuelta Nicaragua that finished on 9th September. I finished that tour but the last three days was not good for me. Stage 4 was tough with a 15km hill climb finish at the end where I dropped out of the main bunch. I had spent the first couple of hours keeping the race together for the team sprinter who collected valuable sprint >>
Vuelta de Nicaragua #2

Our team sprinter needed us to control the race, keep it all together so that Yoeltis (the Cuban strong man) can collect maximum points. I led out for the first sprint which he won it easily and I still >>

I am on my way to Nicaragua where I will be starting the Vuelta de Nicaragua which is a six day stage race starting this Tuesday 4th September. >>
High Speed Criterium
High Speed criteriumTonights Cyco Tank Farm Criterium had numerous attacks going off the front the whole time, but most did not stay away for more than a lap in what was a faster criterium with an average speed of 43km/h than some of the recent races. My game plan tonight was to try and stay up nearthe front and go with any attacks that looked promising. Just before the first prime I had bridged >>
