E-One IPL Hair Removal from France
REVIEW DATE: 21 Apr, 2011

When we were contacted by the distributors of the French E-One Hair removal system to review one of their machines the office went silent with thoughts of never having to shave the legs again and becoming as close as one could get to the hairless Holy Grail of cycling.

With some of the staff having used optical hair removal systems before there were doubts that a compact portable unit would not be able to deliver the same quality of treatment as a full sized salon system. However The E-one IPL unit is and very well designed and at the quality end of treatments and delivers the same sensation as a commercial machine.  Due to the head/applicator being the same size as a professional unit it worked in exactly the same way.

A good read of the instructions for first time users is a must to eliminate any confusion, after a familiarisation I got the hang of it and could work the program with ease. The machine can be set to cover a seemingly endless range of skin/hair combinations. The only difficult part of the procedure is because of the dark glasses supplied/required to protect your eyes it can be hard to see exactly which areas you have covered and what still need to be done, so work in sequences covering patches at a time.

The treatment takes a little longer than waxing and requires 2 (or 3 for the odd stubborn hair) treatments to stop the hairs growing back. But it doesnt hurt anywhere near as much, and being a climber I became to love the sensation!  And as always with wax and you dont have to deal with wax that is too hot or too cold or stuck to the bench/floor/inside of the microwave.  There is none of the chemical uncertainty associated with depilatory creams if it can dissolve hair I certainly dont want it on my skin.

The results from the E-One are fantastic, no ingrown hairs and completely smooth soft skin. You do need to repeat the treatment a few months later as some of the hair will grow back, but what does grow back is fine and sparse and therefore each treatment is quicker and easier.

Overall I found it to be an excellent system and highly recommend it.
