With the temperature dropping by the day for those of us that have been braving the early hours, keeping the extremities warm is high on the priority list.  When talking to Ian from BraveIT at Ironman in March he was forthcoming in offering up a test package of items that had been successfully put to the test by his Belgian distributor in what was one of their toughest winter seasons.  In the next three reviews I will bring you my findings en route!

When opening the box containing my new swag I knew I had no excuses in getting amongst it as the seasons were changing.  With winter gloves, booties, windproof base layers and thermal headwear now at the top of my drawer I was the best kitted guy in the bunch, with gloves in three models  Thermal super Roubaix, windfibre windproof and Adversatek waterproof I was ready for anything.

First up were the Thermals, made of essentially arm warmer fabric these are the perfect partners for cool starts and offer the same degree of warmth as the arm warmers deliver.  Clever honey comb webbing printed in silicone deliver incredible grip to the palms (actually the best I have experienced), reflective printing offers a nice touch for safety enhancement.  But the fit is incredible!  These things cling like clear wrap and are virtually unnoticeable in their feel.  $39.90

Windfibre's, nothing gets through these babies giving a surreal feeling of warmth, for a glove that delivers full wind stopping capabilities the construction was surprisingly light giving good feel when changing gears and scrolling through the Polar.  Even after 90 minutes the finger tips were still happy.  As a nice extra, lightweight gel pads are well placed on the palms, something not usually found on winter gloves.  $59.90

Waterproof Adversatek, with the same feel on the bars as the windfibre model this fully loaded mitt has it all, without the bulk one could be excused of expecting.  Without having been blessed with a downpour en route as yet I have been testing the breathability which is first rate.  As an extreme test I blasted the tops and finger stitching with the hose, dry hands!  $79.90
