PureBlack Look To Next Battle at Tour of Gila
26 Apr, 2011
PureBlack Racing today announced its starting line-up for the SRAM Tour of Gila in New Mexico which runs 27 April to 1 May.  The 8-man team led by Glen Chadwick and Tim Gudsell also includes Daniel Barry, Taylor Gunman, Scott Lyttle, James McCoy, Mike Northey and Roman Van Uden.

The 5 days of racing is made up of 3 road stages an individual time trial and a Criterium.   The event starts Wednesday 27 April with the Silver City to Mogollon road race and wraps on Sunday 1 May with the Gila Monster road race.

In 2009 PureBlack Racing’s Roman Van Uden scored his first major US victory in the Criterium Stage at Gila beating home big names like Lance Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer.

“This is another big race on the US Cycling calendar and we want to continue the momentum from our great start in the US.  The team has been training hard at our base in Boulder since the last race in Alabama two weeks ago.  They’re excited to be heading to New Mexico and are really rearing to go,” said Carl Williams the Sports Director of PureBlack Racing.

“We’ve only been in the US for one month and the team has performed in every race so far with Points jerseys, a stage win and most recently two podiums in two days.  We have established ourselves as a team to watch and a real crowd favourite with our distinctive black New Zealand kit and our aggressive style of racing.”
