The 4 day Redlands cycle classic got underway today with a 3.1km TT Prologue held in 30 degrees plus heat. Redlands is the oldest stage race in the US and the TT is followed by a 120km Road Race on Friday a 60k criterium on Saturday and a 90k Road Race on Sunday. All the top teams in the US are here and it will be an early opportunity for PureBlack Racing to test where it stands at the start of this long season of racing.
Glen Chadwick was the fastest of the PureBlack Racing team showing his years of experience in US cycling and completing his run in 10mins and 33secs, 53seconds down and in 51st place. The rest of the team completed the event with time between 1.07 and 1.53 behind race leader Fransisco Mancebo.
“With a large field and 2 days of road racing to come we are comfortable with todays results” said Carl Williams, Sports Director. “Short sharp Prologues are an art all of their own and we will only get better at these as the season develops. We are looking forward to the next 3 days of racing and bringing it to the 2 road races and the Criterium.”
