Bennett Takes First International Tour Win
29 Jan, 2011

George Bennett has confirmed the potential many cycling experts have seen in him by securing his first Trust House Tour of Wellington title.  The Nelson youngster supported by his Cardno U23 team showed his ability to perform over the four days on some of the toughest terrain the Wairarapa has to offer and against Australasia’s best selection of teams.
It what was a first for the event in its 24 year history Australian Nathan Earle took his third stage win in as many days and amongst them were two of the hardest days of the Tour, Admirals Hill and the 162km haul from Masterton to Pahiatua.  Today’s new stage based around Upper Hutt was the hat rick for the Genesys rider and his team.
The brilliant Joe Cooper showed his class as the never failing star climbing ace taking yet another KOM title whilst New Zealand’s Shane Archbold took the Lithoprint Sprint classification on a count back from Australian rival Adam Phelan of the Drapac Team.
