Sevilla Does it Again
17 Sep, 2010

The baby faced assassin Oscar Sevilla was once poised to become the next big Grand Tour sensation, that was until like many of Europe’s star riders of the time came crashing down in the Operation Puerto blood doping sting unearthed by the Spanish authorities.
Banished from his beloved European roads the Spaniard became a regular feature on the roads of north and south America where he raced for the controversial team Rock Racing, now some five years on the rider has been caught out again, this time for the blood volume booster  Hydroxyethyl starch, or HES, is a blood plasma volume expander that has been abused by athletes to keep blood values within the normal range after boosting red blood cell production through EPO or similar drugs.

Sevilla tested positive for the drug on August 15th whilst taking part in the Tour of Columbia.  He will remain suspended until a Spanish Cycling Federation panel convenes to deliberate on his case.
