Exalith coated rims are visible wear resistent

The LOOK - POLAR collaboration that saw the launch of the Keo Power system will stand out as a breakthrough in the category that currently imposes the use of special cranksets or hubs on the rider, the Keo Power unit allows the rider to use essentially Keo Blade bodies fitted with a special internal axle. Not only is the system compatable with three current model Polar computer heads but it measures and displays power readings from the left and right legs.

With the release of the 695 Model Bike LOOK also bring to the road the integrated one piece ZED2 crankset and the new stem concept known as "C System" Establishing their own BB standard of BB65 LOOK bring the crank arms and BB axle together as one eliminating all points for flex and loss of power whilst producing the lightest combination on the market.

The C stem of the 695 tidies up the front end of the bike and adds an unprecedented level of rigidity to the handlebars. Each unit is adjustable to two lengths and gives a huge range of vertical rise and fall via a special internal cam.

Another advancement from the French was from Mavic. The wheel giant has come up with an ingenious side wall treatment called Exalith; a new hard-anodization process that Mavic says creates a wear-proof finish. The anodization penetrates into the rim to about 10 microns and is so hard that even under long-term braking riders will never wear down the surface like on a regular rim. In that respect it seems like a next-generation ceramic coating.

Mavic also claims that Exalith allows them to further machine the rim sidewalls and reduce up to 10g per rim, but from what I can see claimed weights on 2011 Exalith wheels are no different than similar non-Exalith wheels from 2010.
