Schleck Donnes the Yellow
13 Jul, 2010

Andy Schleck swapped out the white jersey for best young rider for the yellow jersey after the finish of stage 9 in the Tour de France today with a commanding performance over the Madeleine.  The Luxembourger together with Alberto Contador distanced all of the remaining favorites coming home at the head of the field sprinting for the stage win which was taken by Sandy Caesar of FDJ.
The biggest casualty of the day was Aussie Cadel Evans losing over nine minutes, the team BMC rider dressed in yellow looked every bit a leader with his squad assembled at the front on the first climbs of the day.  However there was no where to hide on the Madeleine when the attacks started flying from Schleck and company and the fracture in Evans elbow was surely putting him below his best.

Scleck now leads pre tour favorite Alberto Contador by 41 seconds.
