Nelson Cyclefest Launch Web and Event Details
28 Jun, 2010

The website for New Zealand‟s newest cycling festival has been launched in Nelson. The event will run from 8-17 October 2010 and promises something for riders of all ages and abilities with everything from serious racing to social coffee rides. There will be road, mountain bike, bmx and tandem races in a variety of locations around Nelson throughout the week.

The Nelson Cycle Festival team is working alongside the Tasman Wheelers and the Nelson MTB Club who have helped create some exciting national class events. These include the Festival opening event „the City of Nelson Criterium‟ around the Cathedral; a brand new Rocks Road / Princes Drive elite circuit road race, which takes in Nelson‟s Tahunanui skyline; and the famous Mammoth 50km MTB race, to name a few.

The full programme of events is available on the site www.nelsoncyclefest.co.nz

Mike Watson, from Stewarts Avanti Plus Nelson came up with the concept for the festival and says "We want the focus of the event to be on both the cycling and the social events that are linked to each ride so that cyclists have the opportunity to catch up and not have to rush home after a race. Enjoy the ride then stay for the fun!"

Registrations will be open from early July and riders will be able to register on line through the website. Lea Boodee from onCue conferences and events is excited to be associated with the event and says "The Nelson Cycle Festival will be a great new event for Nelson attracting cyclists from all over New Zealand to take part in a week long programme of serious racing, with a few not so serious races thrown in for fun. It‟s our job to make sure that the registration process is easy and hassle free for the cyclists. We want it to be simple for them to register for the rides they want to take part in, and then just enjoy their trip to Nelson."
