Cadel Evans - Best World Champion in a Decade
16 May, 2010

World Champion cyclist Cadel Evans vowed to honor the Rainbow jersey for the 2010 season and race it with the distinction it deserved,  the Australian has not disappointed.  Watching stage seven of the Giro d Italia showed the stuff the BMC Team rider is made of as he singlehandedly disposed of the competition to take line honors in Montalcino after 222km of racing.

The stage which had been dubbed the "most feared" of this years race lived up to epectations as did Evans, with the final 35km over the unpaved roads of the Strade Bianche turning the riders into creatures from the mud.  Evans who noted his advantage in the trecherous conditions as an ex mountainbike World Champion turned the screws on his breakaway companions on the slippery descents that conjured up images of racing from another era.

As Evans, Vino, Cunego, Pinotti and Arroyo lined up for the sprint to the line there was only going to be one winner as he man in the Rainbow jersey he vowed to Honour was simply a cut above.
