Villumsen Makes NZ Cycling History
22 Sep, 2015

Linda Villumsen has take her stocks another notch higher than last years Commonwealth Games time trial win when this morning she smashed the Women's field at the UCI World Championships to take the gold medal.

Favourite for the race and two-time world champion Kristin Armstrong posted the early time to beat with a scorching 40:50 making that stick until the last few riders finished the course.

Armstrong's time was bettered by Garfoot riding in the green and gold for Australia with a 40:39 and then New Zealand's Linda Villumsen, whose time was infallible for the rest of the race.

Villumsen had some early competition from silver medallist Van der Breggen, when at the first time check had posted the fastest time. Going out hard proved costly for Van der Breggen who's subsequent intermediate splits fell away and we bettered by the Kiwi.
