Bevin Signs on For NZ Avanti Racing Team
29 Oct, 2014

Avanti Racing Team is excited to announce the signing of Patrick Bevin to the team for the 2015 season. The talented Kiwi burst on to the National Road Series midway through the year with wins in both the National Capital Tour and the Tour of Tasmania and quickly became the target of every team in the region.

Team co-owner Andrew Christie-Johnston made no secret of his desire to have Bevin on the team and is sure that it’s just the first step up the professional ladder for the multi – talented rider. “Well you know what they say… if you can’t beat em. When he beat Joe in the TT in Canberra he made me take notice, then we couldn’t shake him on the climbs and I though this guy is good. Ben (Dyball) only just beat him on Mount Wellington and then he came out and won two stages in sprints so he’s very versatile” he said. “I know he had some pretty strong offers, offers we couldn’t come close to matching but he’s obviously smart too because he knows that we will do everything we can to further his career, we really just want to be a stepping stone for him so he can get to where he deserves to be. Paddy is the first of a number of Kiwis we have signed, we are very happy with the team we’ve pulled together for next year, it’s going to cause some upsets for sure.”

Bevin will form part of an Oceania power house that includes other Kiwis recent NRS Champion Joe Cooper and NZ TT Champion Taylor Gunman. More signings will be announced in coming days.

Sponsors of the Avanti Racing Team include Avanti Bikes, Praties, Shimano, Giro, Torq Nutrition, Champion Systems, Motion, Adidas Eyewear, BioCeuticals, Ftp Training, Kenda tyres, Park Tools, Easton, Zero, High Sierra, Ionata, Rocktape, and Premax.
