Nibali Gets the Set
25 Jul, 2014

Vincenzo Nibali unashamedly stamped his authority all over the Tour de France peloton as he rode away at will from the pack of riders duking it out for the second through fifth positions.  The rider known as the Shark showed no mercy for his peers on the slopes of the Hautacam as he gobbled up everyone in his sight to take his fourth stage win of the 2014 race.

"I wanted to win the stage for the team that worked so hard for me," Nibali said after his victory. "It's important to win in the Pyrenees, I wasn't really thinking about the GC."

Now with a mountainous 7:10 over Frenchie Pinot and a reasonable time trial in his arsenal the Tuscan is looking good to take out his first Tour de France and complete his full set of Grand Tour wins, something that only Alberto Contador can claim to hold of the current rider generation.

As a bonus to the Italian is a 1 million euro payout from the Astana team, a clause written into his contract in 2013 should he win the Tour, the four million euro a year man now looks to make it five.  With the dominance of the Astana squad at the tour they stand to take home more than 25% of the two million euro prize pool.
