Cyclists Named on SKY Next Initiatives List
26 Mar, 2014

Four New Zealand cyclists have been included in the new SKY Next initiatives launched today.

Sprinters Sam Webster and Ethan Mitchell, top rating mountain biker Anton Cooper and Paralympian Phillipa Gray have been included in the programme aimed to up and coming young Kiwi athletes as they strive for success on the world stage.

They are part of 18 talented young Kiwi sports stars to receive sponsorship from SKY Television.

The programme has morphed from the Sport Connect programme devised and run by Marissa and Hamish Carter to help “good young athletes be great.”

The initiative has now been comprehensively supported by SKY Television, providing important financial aid as well as assistance in media training, mentoring, coaching and publicity.

Webster and Mitchell are part of the young Kiwi trio who won the recent Team Sprint World Championship in Colombia, Cooper is a former world junior champion now in the professional ranks in Europe while Gray is a Paralympics gold medallist.
