Drapac & SRAM Pair up for 2014 Season
19 Nov, 2013
Drapac Professional Cycling will partner with SRAM as the team enters its new era as a UCI Professional Continental outfit in 2014.

An expanding race program, taking in not only Australia and Asia but also the United States will put increasing demands on the Drapac team, a challenge that SRAM is all too ready to take up.

General Manager of SRAM Australasia, Rob Eva, said that Drapac will be well-equipped for the season ahead.

"SRAM is greatly looking forward to partnering with the Drapac Professional Cycling Team in 2014 and see their move to the Pro Conti level as a great step that matches well with their rider roster and their ambitions for further growth in coming years," he said. "SRAM has long had associations with the best cycling teams and this is no exception with Drapac being the only Pro Conti team in Australia for 2014. We wish the team every success for the upcoming year and know that we will be there with equipment that helps them reach their lofty goals."

When it comes to race day, Drapac riding SRAM partner SwiftCarbon, will use the lightest available groupset on the market, RED 22 along with ZIPP bar, stem and seat posts on ZIPP Firecrest race wheels.

SRAM RED 22 exists at the top of the drivetrain food chain as the lightest groupset in the world that has won the very best races in the world. From Paris Roubaix to Cyclocross worlds, from the Tour de France to the Ironman world championships, RED 22 delivers incredibly efficient function along with technologies that are truly meaningful.

For training, Drapac will ride SRAM Force 22 with the high performance ZIPP 30 alloy wheels. Both race and training bikes will be using Quarq Red22 Power Metres developed hand-in-hand with SRAM RED 22, the remodeled RED Power Meter receives Exogram™ hollow carbon crank arms and features an LED that signals power on and zeroing, a visible ANT+™ ID and tool-free, user-replaceable CR2032 battery. Add True 22, 1.5% accuracy, Power Balance™ and OmniCal™ and you get a versatile and lightweight package filled with cutting edge technology that amplifies any rider's performance.

Drapac Team Manager Jonathan Breekveldt said that having SRAM as a component partner enables the team great technical support with equipment.

"The variety of ZIPP wheels across the Firecrest range gives the athletes the ability to choose the perfect wheels for any condition.  It will be highly beneficial to have the entire team using Quarq for 2014 and will give our Director of Performance, Keith Flory, as great tool in help with the training and wellbeing of our riders."
