Kiesanowski Takes US Victory
3 Sep, 2013
Experienced Kiwi racer Jo Kiesanowski delivered a fierce performance at the Steamboat Springs Stage Race this weekend, clinching overall victory after winning today’s Stage 3 criterium. Kiesanowski moved into the general classification lead after winning yesterday’s Stage 2 road race and kept going full gas until the finish of today’s stage.

The three-day race in the Colorado ski town took place at altitude, just under 7000 feet elevation.

“You really have to judge your efforts right!” said Kiesanowski. “I love racing in Colorado and it’s such great training at high altitudes.”

The three-time Kiwi Olympian is showing excellent form ahead of the UCI Road World Championships, taking place later this month.

“It was three good, hard days of racing at high altitude and perfect preparation for the Road World Championships,” said Kiesanowski.

Kiesanowski placed 3rd in the opening day time trial, and moved into the GC lead with her stage 2 road race victory. Kiesanowski took the reigns in today’s Stage 3 criterium, taking the sprint for the win and showcasing her capabilities as a dynamic athlete.

“It was a very well-organized race with the whole Steamboat Springs community behind it,” said Kiesanowski. “It was my first time here and it’s such a neat town.”
