Bakelants Takes His Biggest Victory
1 Jul, 2013

Belgian Jan Bekelants took lived his biggest moment today in taking a stage win in his very first Tour de France. Placing third in the Belgian championships the previous weekend was his ticket to Corsica after being seemingly in the wilderness since 200 when he shot to prominence by winning the mini Tour de France the Tour de L'Avenir. The last minute inclusion in the Radioshack-Leopard team has put the focus on his Luxembourg registered team by taking the yellow jersey and should put the excitement of the Tour in his team Leader and podium hopeful Andy Schleck.

Kiwis Greg Henderson and Jack Bauer both survived the day working tirelessly for their teams in 151st and 179th. Bauer one of the powerhouses of the Garmin-Sharp will be looking to force the pace in the Team time trial in two days time with Captain Ryder Hesjedal looking to establish himself at the top of the leader board.
