Bennett on the Attack in Tour Down Under
23 Jan, 2013

New Zealand's George Bennett was on the attack on stage two of the Santos Tour Down Under with the Radioshack climber opening up a gap on the field on the famed Corkscrew hill.  With a hard charging Gerraint Thomas in pursuit the lead of Bennett was soon diminished with a regrouping of the leaders on the climb Bennett, Ben Hermans (RadioShack Leopard) and Javier Moreno (Movistar) joined Thomas on the rapid descent and on the run into the finish, the Olympic Track Champion was not leaving anything to chance watching the competition from the rear of the break.
Jumping his companions the Welsh cycling star opened up the sprint early for a win that that was text book to the line.

Bennett sits equal on time sharing the lead in the Young riders competition and third overall in the King of the Mountains.

Garmin Sharps Jack Bauer showed his superb early season form finishing the stage in 9th and sits in 5th placein the King of the Mountains competition.
