Fedrigo Targets Stage 15 Win
17 Jul, 2012

Perrick Fedrigo make it lucky number two into Pau today on stage 15 of the Tour de France mirroring the last Tour stage he won and making it his fourth overall.

From a quality breakaway of Fédrigo, Vande Velde, Dumoulin, Voeckler and Devenyns the group quickly built up a massive 12 minute lead taking advantage of the lack of interest from the peloton in neutralising the day for the sprinters.  Only team Lotto Belisol took the initiative and when it became apparent there would be no help from Liquigas Cannondale or Orica GreenEdge they too left the days procession to team SKY.

Ever alert and a prolific winner on the big days Fedrigo knew the finish well and exactly how to beat his companions attacking hard with 10km to go and moved clear, backing his abilities too was Christian Vande Velde, the US rider on team Garmin Sharp was quickly up to the Frenchman and the duo set about distancing themselves and built up a solid 20 second margin that would remain to the finish.

In the dash for the line the smart money was always going to be on Fedrigo, the "Puncheur" had too much gas for the American and won by a clear length.

Backing up his victory from last week Tommy Voeckler sprinted home for third place.
