Froome & SKY Dominate Stage 7
8 Jul, 2012

Chris Froome (SKY) put in an astounding effort on the slopes of the La Planche des Belles Filles today, not only was he Bradley Wiggins last team support rider doing an incredible job pacing his leader up the last two km of the climb but out of nowhere he mustered up enough energy to take the victory atop the 20% gradient finish.
This display of brilliance was made even more so when looking at the calibre of rider the Kenyan born Brit had to beat, in 2nd place was Cadel Evans, 3rd Wiggins and 4th Nibali, the three general classification favourites for this year’s tour.

Wiggins made it a double feature for the SKY team in taking over the race lead from Fabian Cancellara, Wiggins only needed to find seven seconds and now leads the tour from Evans with a 10 second buffer.

Another lack lustre effort from Radioshack Nissan leader Frank Schleck having battles with himself saw him demoted in the hierarchy of the team with Haimar Zubeldia now the best of the Luxembourg team in 6th place at 59 seconds.
