Sagan & Carnage Reign in Tour Stage 6
7 Jul, 2012

Peter Sagan took an emotion filled victory in today's stage six of the Tour de France victory saluting a la The Incredible Hulk and dressed head to toe in trademark green as the leader in the points competition.  Sagan crossed the line a full two lengths clear of second placed Andre Greipel with Australian Matt Goss taking another third place.
With 50 metres to go the day once again was looking like belonging to Greipel and his Lotto Belisol team as they once again displayed a perfect lead out for the German with Kiwi Greg Henderson being the last man to guide the double stage winner to the line.  But Sagan had other ideas, with the peloton somewhat reduced in sprinting talent after the spate of pile ups on the road into Metz.  Taken completely out of the action was World Champion Mark Cavendish with the Manx man looking disappointed as he crossed the line in the grupetto minutes later.
The biggest casualties of the day were Frank Schleck third last year and Ryder Hesjedal winner of the Giro last month.  The duo have been ripped from the general classification and now face a tough task to challenge favourites Evans and Wiggins for the overall title.
