Greipel Nails Stage Four
5 Jul, 2012

German sprinting giant Andre Greipel took his stage win in the Tour de France today in what was the perfect execution to a perfect display of team riding from his Lotto Belisol team.  Hitting 2km to go the team was perfectly formed in single file on the front of the peloton with Kiwi fastman Greg Henderson charged with the job of being Greipels final wheel to fly off.  Hendy nailed it sprinting to his maximum and peeling off with just 50 metres to go leaving the final dash to Greipel who had already taken care of Ale "Jet" Petacchi (Lampre) and Tom Veelers (Argos Shimano)

The only thing missing from this victory however was the World Champion Mark Cavendish who had taken a brutal fall inside the final 3km tumbling sideways in the midst of the peloton.  Cav's injuries looked to be mainly road rash with the Manxman lucky to escape injuries of a more serious nature with the London Olympics later this month.
