Gerrans Tops the Standings for GreenEDGE
22 Jan, 2012

On form Australian Champion Simon Gerrans has backed up his win two weeks ago in the National championships by taking out the Santos Tour Down Under today.  Although Gerrans and his GreenEDGE team failed to win a stage he was the most consistent over the six days and beat Spanish rival Alejandro Valverde home in todays criterium, with the pair equal on time going into today it was a winner takes all scenario.
Winning the teams race was Radioshack -Nissan, the home of two of our kiwi stars Hayden Roulston and Jesse Sergent, keeping alive the Johan Bruyneel tradition of often winning teams classifications in Stage races.

Jack Bauer lit things up for his Garmin Barracuda team going solo around the city streets and hung on for 16th place on the stage.

Greg Henderson riding in the services of German star Andre Greipel delivered his leader to yet another stage victory in the first World Tour event of the year, the speedy Kiwi will have lifted his stocks in the Lotto Belisol ranks.
