Santos Tour Down Under Teams Start to Arrive

The eyes of the world will be again watching Adelaide this month, with only three days until
the first two international cycling teams arrive in preparation for the 2012 Santos Tour Down
Under.
Preparations for the event are well underway. The event will see the some of the world’s
best sprinters including Alessandro Petacchi, Andre Greipel, Oscar Freire, Edvald Boasson
Hagen, Daniele Bennati and Robbie McEwen, go head to head.
The 2012 start lists boasts an impressive representation of seven past winners with nine
victories between them (Cameron Meyer – 2011, Andre Greipel – 2010 and 2008, Martin
Elmiger – 2007, Simon Gerrans – 2006, Luis Leon Sanchez – 2005, Michael Rogers – 2002 and
South Australia’s hometown hero, Stuart O’Grady– 2001 and 1999).
Media are encouraged to catch all the action throughout January as the teams begin to
arrive, hit the streets for long rides and soak up the Aussie atmosphere and hospitality
before the race.

When: The first teams arrive on Friday 6 January 2012 and keep
arriving until Thursday 12 January 2012.
