Bauer Takes Impressive Stage Win in Utah
12 Aug, 2011

Jack Bauer surprised the sprinters at the end of the Tour of Utah's second stage in Provo today as he jumped clear with 500m to go and powered all the way to the line. Jack's attack opened up a clear gap in just a few pedal strokes and Elia Viviani  (Liquigas Cannondale) and Jake Keough (UnitedHealthcare) were unable able to catch the charging Kiwi at the end of the 160km stage.

Bauer's win capped a fine stage for Endura Racing as the team were active all day and had Jack Anderson in a long three man break which was only caught in the last 10km. Jack Anderson was rewarded with the Vivint Most Aggressive Rider jersey for his efforts.

Jack Bauer:
Awesome day really. We had worked out it would be a sprint night before and we were ready for it. Thwaitsey or myself were to finish it off. Alex took the speed right up to 800m and I got a gap. I knew lads where all rowed up behind so just committed. Lads did a great job. I'm looking forward to the TT tomorrow, it looks like it will suit me and Alex, so we see what happens.

Jack Anderson:
It was a tough day out there with just 3 of us. It seemed to get a bit windy towards the end, but we all worked well together. You hope you might stay away but we had Scott and Jack [Bauer] as our plan for the day. We know we got two of the fastest guys so we had backup. To come away with aggressive rider jersey is some consolation.
