Todays stage was an individual Time Trial a race against the clock for every single rider in the peloton. After 3 hard road stages this means a switch of gear to Time Trial bikes, aerodynamic disc wheels, skinsuits and aero helmets as everyone looks for that few seconds of improvement. Itís a change up from endurance riding to power riding with todayís winner local Canadian rider Svein Tuft of Spidertech completing the 20km course in just over 25 minutes and 26 seconds.
After spending the last 3 days working in the peloton for his teammates former Tour de Beauce Champion Glen Chadwick was PureBlack Racings fastest over the TT course today finishing in 26 minutes and 20 seconds to finish in 12th place 54 seconds down on the winner. He was followed by Scott Lyttle in 24th place 1min and 18 seconds back and Tim Gudsell made up our top 3 finishers in 28th place a further 12 seconds behind Scott.
While this was an individual race against the clock this is still a team event and a key part of todays strategy was for many of the team to use today as an opportunity to rest up for the final 2 stages of 125km each around circuit style courses.
Scott finished the stage in 7th place on overall GC only 10 seconds away from 3rd and 1min 21 seconds behind race leader Mancebo. Itís setting up to be an exciting weekend of racing for the boys in Quebec
