Online registrations for this year’s Bike the Trail have been steady with more than 400 people pre-registered for the free family event.
UPPER HUTT, Wellington, NZ, 20 FEB 2015—More than 400 people have already registered for this year’s family-friendly Bike the Trail event along the Hutt River Trail.
The event is an easy ride and a great way for families to bike together because the entire course is flat and away from roads.
Although it’s free to attend the event, people can pre- register at www.bikethetrail.co.nz to ensure medical information and contact details for family members are on file. You can also register on the day.
Bike the Trail is not timed and groups of about 50 people set off at short intervals from 10.00 am to make sure everyone has enough room to ride together.
Bike riding options
Bike the Trail has two options:
1. The full ride is 25 km from Harcourt Park in Upper Hutt to Hikoikoi Reserve in Petone.
2. A shorter 15 km ride starts at County Lane (off Fergusson Drive) in Silverstream and finishes at Hikoikoi Reserve in Petone.
The Hits radio station will be at the end of the course in Petone playing music. A gold coin donation barbecue will feed hungry riders and support a local community group.
Bike and people transport back to the start line is provided free.
Register now at www.bikethetrail.co.nz
Bike the Trail is an event run in partnership between Upper Hutt City Council, Hutt City Council, and Greater Wellington Regional Council.
