Gallopin Adds to French Tour Celebrations
14 Jul, 2014

Lotto Belisol and France both had reason to celebrate at the Tour today as the the squads French connection Tony Gallopin raced himself into the yellow jersey on the eve of Bastille day.  Gallopin whos father and uncle were both professional riders had been eyeing the yellow jersey since the cobbled day of destruction in Norther France last week keeping himself within reach with the plan of engineering himself off the front and into a break.

Gallopin who now holds a 1.34 lead over Vincenzo Nibali whonow sits in second place is under no illusions of granduer and expects to find it a battle to keep the jersey for another day as the battle between the Tinkoff SAXO camp of Contador and Nibali's Astana reaches fever pitch on the second mountain top finish.

The new poster boy of French Cycling becomes the first Frenchman to hold the jersey since Tommy V in 2011, "Tomorrow is going to be huge," Gallopin said of Monday's summit finish at La Planche des Belles Filles. "It'll be a very hard stage for me but a very proud day for me, too. And I've got nothing to lose."
