Wild Coaster 2010
10 Sep, 2010
With Just a month from the 4th Classic Hits WildCoaster 109km cycle ride from Greymouth to Westport on Saturday October 9th and one statistic is becoming apparent.
"Baby Boomers" are getting back on their bikes with a third of the first 100 entered over the age of 50,  and half of these either already receiving or about to sign up for their National Superanuation entitlement before Hayden Roulston rides at  the London Olympics.
Nelson Events are rapt with the pedallers response, and gearing up for a record field. Race Director, Graeme West says the two wheeled weekend warriors are in for a challenging route that offers everything. Being a decent distance, having a bit of technical stuff which is a good test for them. The scenery is so spectacular that they would be hard pressed to find anything like it on any other bike ride.
Reason why the event logo states it all..."if anyone asks what event to put on your list for a ride of your lifetime..then it has to be The WildCoaster.
Race pack bonus is an Event Mussette included for every rider plus their expected West Coast 'wildfoods" welcome when they cross the Carters Beach finishline..a wriggling freshly caught whitebait sandwich washed down with one of Monteiths best !
